Ruffa Gutierrez Cries, Denies Rumors of Baby Selling

Actress-TV host Ruffa Gutierrez couldn't help crying at the press conference for her upcoming movie, The Mommy Returns, on April 16, when she addressed rumors that she had once agreed to sell one of her girls for a huge amount of money, ABS-CBNNews.com reports. According to said rumors, Ruffa had allegedly given birth to twins in 2003 and she had allowed her mom, Annabelle Rama, to sell one of them.

"Huwag naman sana idamay ang mga bata," she is quoted as saying. "'Yung sinabi niya na nanganak ako kay Lorin at may kakambal si Lorin, at dahil mukhang pera ang mommy ko binenta daw ni mommy 'yung isang bata. (I wish my children hadn't been brought into it. It was said that, when I gave birth to Lorin, my baby had a twin, and that since my mom is greedy for money, she sold my other child.) How can you invent these stories?"

"Alam ng mga kaibigan ko na hindi naman ako nanganak ng kambal (My friends know that I didn't give birth to twins)," she added. "I was laughing and laughing, but how can [a] human being invent things like this? Where did they get this? So I got sad and emotional na pati ako dinadamay. So sana kayong dalawa na lang ni mama ang mag-away. (I got sad and emotional because even my name was dragged into the feud. I wish this person had just involved herself and my mom in the fight.)"

"You know, I don't fight with her," she said. "I just want a peaceful, happy life. Don't include me na lang, especially my kids. 'Yun lang."

While Ruffa did not name any names, press speculate that she was referring to actress Amalia Fuentes. The latter had recently gotten into a word war with Annabelle Rama on Twitter.
