Regine Velasquez Takes on the Role of Talk Show Host

The songstress is slowly resuming work after the birth of her first child with husband Ogie Alcasid.

regine-in-article.jpgRegine Velasquez-Alcasid is gradually stepping back into the limelight after a few months of absence from show business. Asia's Songbird has been laying low since she gave birth to her first child with husband Ogie Alcasid, Nate, on November 8, 2011.

According to a report from Pep.ph, she has resumed her hosting stint on the Sunday musical variety show Party Pilipinas and has also gone back to filming her new movie with Aga Muhlach under Viva Films. Her newest role to date is as talk show host for H.O.T. TV (Hindi Ordinaryong Tsismis), a magazine talk show that will air on GMA-7. She will be joined by Raymond Gutierrez, Roderick Paulate, and Jennylyn Mercado.

At the press conference for H.O.T. TV, Regine admitted that she was initially apprehensive about joining the program.

"Natatakot nga ako kaya nga I had to think talaga," she said. "Tinanong ko yung asawa ko (Ogie Alcasid) if I should accept it, and he said, 'Why not?' bilang marami naman daw akong sinasabi. (I was scared so I really had to think about it. I asked my husband [Ogie Alcasid] if I should accept it, and he said, 'Why not?' especially since I have a lot of things to say.)"

"At saka, bilang tsismosa naman daw ako (And I've been told that I'm a natural gossip)," Regine laughingly added.

And what about issues that involve her or her husband? Will Regine be open to discussions about these?

"Depende sa sitwasyon na nakalagay kami," she said. "Kasi, puwede ko namang sabihin na kung may isyu kami, puwede ko namang sabihin sa staff na kung puwede, huwag pag-usapan, and I’m sure they’ll respect that naman. Pero siyempre, mag-asawa kami. Anumang problema namin bilang mag-asawa, dapat sa amin lang yun. Hindi na kailangang isali ang buong mundo (It really depends on the situation we're in. Because if there is an issue, I can tell the staff that if possible not to bring it up, and I'm sure they'll respect that. But of course, we're a married couple. Whatever problems we have as a married couple should only be between the two of us. There's no need for the whole world to be involved.)"
