Today is Renee Zellweger's birthday. While she turns 43 this year, she remains a Hollywood darling. This beauty was born and raised in Texas by her Swedish dad, Emil Erich Zellweger, and her Norwegian mom, Kjellfried Irene Andreassen. She has one brother, Drew, who is two years older.
Her girl-next-door looks might give off a Maria Clara impression, but she’s actually a sporty chick at heart. Growing up, she took up baseball, basketball, soccer, football, gymnastics, and cheerleading. It was only in college that she discovered her love for acting and auditioned for several films, such as Reality Bites and Empire Records.
Hollywood eventually came knocking on her door, and she landed roles opposite Tom Cruise (Jerry Maguire), Meryl Streep (One True Thing), and Morgan Freeman (Nurse Betty, for which she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical in 2000). She rose to fame as Bridget Jones and proved that she can also sing and dance in the movie rendition of the Broadway hit Chicago. Later on, she tried her hand at being an executive producer in Miss Potter, which she also starred in.
We’ve barely touched on Renee’s long list of onscreen identities. Take a trip down memory lane and read about her 10 most memorable movie roles yet by scrolling through this gallery.
