Actress Kim Chiu was quick to defend My Binondo Girl love team partner Xian Lim when the press asked her if she was responsible for his rise to fame, ABS-CBNNews.com reports.
“Hindi naman siguro," she is quoted as saying. "Wala naman akong ginawa sa kanya; wala rin naman siyang ginawa sa akin. Nagtrabaho lang naman kami. Siguro naman, deserving siya kung nasaan siya ngayon dahil sa talent niya at sa ipinapakita niya sa tao. (I don't think so. I didn't do anything for him, and he didn't do anything for me. We just worked together. I think he deserves to be where is now because of his talent and what he's shown audiences.)"
The actress added that their love team worked because of both their efforts. "Talented naman ‘yung tao. Unfair naman ‘yung word na gamitan, parang hindi naman siguro. (He's talented. It's unfair to say he's a user. I don't think he's like that.)"
As for their detractors, Kim said they were free to say whatever they wanted to say. "Nasa amin naman ‘yun kung gusto namin basahin, kung gusto namin dibdibin. (Whether we decide to read their comments and take what they say personally is up to us.)"
Kim also said that despite the controversy, she and Xian remain friends. "Nag-communicate kami, nagtatawagan, nagkaka-text, minsan lumalabas. (We communicate with each other. We call, text, and sometimes go out.) Yeah, we're friends. We’re true friends."
