Marian Rivera and Robin Padilla are showing off their fine physiques on the covers of this month’s issues of Women’s Health and Men’s Health, and they are both looking better than ever. During their press conference for the magazine held on January 10, the two stars talked about how they prepared for their respective shoots.
Robin shared that he had asked Men’s Health Art Director Glen Cocnio to give him a month to prepare for the shoot, so that he can concentrate on toning his upper body. He also felt honored to be chosen to appear on the magazine’s cover for the second time.
“Syempre para sa akin, isang malaking karangalan yung laging binibigyan ng ganitong pagkakataon dahil strikto din ang Men’s Health eh. ‘Di ka naman basta-basta mako-cover dito dahil kailangan talagang totoong isinasabuhay mo yung tamang kalusugan at tamang pangangatawan (Of course, for me, it's a great honor to be frequently given this opportunity because Men's Health is very strict. You can't just be on their cover because you really have to live healthily in addition to having the right physique.).”
When asked how she prepared for her third stint on the cover of the Women’s Health, Marian replied that she owes her svelte body to her newfound devotion to Muay Thai. "Isa 'yun sa mga dahilan kung bakit ako fit ngayon," she said. “If ever na may time ako, nagma-Muay Thai ako… Inenjoy ko siya, 'yun nga lang, may mga consequence. Lalaki kamay mo, magkaka-pasa ka (That's one of the reasons why I'm fit right now. If I ever have the time, I do Muay Thai. I enjoy it, but it has its consequences. Your hands will get bigger and you'll have bruises.).” Still the actress refused to let a few bruises dampen her enthusiasm for the sport. “Ang importante sa akin, healthy ako (What's important for me is that I'm healthy.).”
Both the editors of Men’s Health and Women’s Health also have nothing by good words to say about the two stars. “She’s been very game to do things,” said WH editor in chief Lara Parpan about Marian. “Nung una, magwu-Wushu siya, next she was doing another form of martial art, now it was Muay Thai. This woman can just do pretty much anything she sets her heart to.”
Meanwhile, Peejo Pilar, the editor in chief of Men’s Health, said that Robin’s effortless charisma makes him the perfect cover boy for the magazine. “If you think about a renaissance man in the Philippines, that’s Robin Padilla. He’s into martial arts… he’s not afraid to try new things… he wants to go beyond his limits and he keeps himself absolutely fit.”
