Kris Aquino Shares How Zsa Zsa Padilla Coped with Dolphy’s Deteriorating Health

TV host-actress Kris Aquino shared that singer Zsa Zsa Padilla, who has been Dolphy's partner for 23 years, had a very hard time coping with the late Comedy King's worsening health, despite her strong front.

"There were many days na kung kailangan lang ni Zsa Zsa huminga, manonoood kami ng sine kasama ng mga anak ko. Actually 'yung last was five days before ma-ospital si Tito Dolphy (There were many days when Zsa Zsa just wanted to relax, so we would watch a movie with my kids. Actually, the last time we did that was five days before Tito Dolphy was hospitalized)," Kris was quoted as saying after the Comedy King's necrological service in an article by ABSCBNNews.com.

According to Kris, who is Zsa Zsa's longtime best friend, there were also days when the singer can't help but break down.

"Ang dami naming conversations na nagkukulong siya sa banyo dahil ayaw niyang iparinig kay Tito Dolphy kung gaano kalungkot na siya (We had a lot of conversations when she would lock herself in the bathroom because she didn't want Tito Dolphy to know how sad she was)," Kris said.

Kris also shared that Dolphy's hospitalization gave Zsa Zsa the opportunity to form stronger bonds with Dolphy's children from his past relationships. Both Zsa Zsa and Eric Quizon, who is one of Dolphy's children with Alice Smith, said that the five weeks they spent in the hospital watching over the Comedy King made them a family.

"First time daw 'yun na nagkausap talaga [sina Zsa Zsa at ang mga anak ni Dolphy] nang masinsinan, nagkakilanlan (It was apparently the first time that Zsa Zsa and Dolphy’s children were able to talk and know each other), they got to know each other so well. Maybe that's why Tito Dolphy was able to go with peace in his heart," Kris remarked.

"My admiration for her as a friend and as a woman, hindi mo masusukat (is immeasurable)," said Kris. "Lahat tayo pinagdarasal natin na sana, sa pagtanda natin, may magmamahal at maga-alaga sa atin the way that she cared for him (We’re all praying that when we grow old, there would be someone who will love and take care of us that way she cared for him)."
