Actor John Lloyd Cruz’s love life has had its share of ups and downs—and then some—but despite the many romantic hookups and breakups attributed to him, the Box-Office King admits that he has a hard time dealing with heartbreak.
“Basically, you get stupid,” PEP.ph quotes him as having said during a recent interview with Carmina Villaroel on Showbiz Inside Report. “Parang nawawalan ka ng ano, e. Nakakalimutan mo yung sarili mo. (It’s like you lose something inside you. You forget who you are.)” He added, “Mas hindi mo tuloy minamahal yung sarili mo. You do things na hindi mo dapat gawin. (It makes you love yourself even less. You do things you shouldn’t do.)”
But things seem to be looking up for the actor, who shared that he didn’t think he would be repeating the “stupid things” he’s done in the past. When asked whether his recent breakup and reconciliation with actress Shaina Magdayao has made his relationship with her stronger, he replied, “Definitely. Mas okay kami. Mas naging sensitive kami ngayon sa needs ng isa’t isa. (We’re more okay [than we were]. Now we’re more sensitive about each other’s needs.)”
He added, “Sana talaga, sana I’m doing a good job being Shaina’s boyfriend,” also sharing that he and Shaina get along easily because they enjoy many of the same activities—even some that are traditionally considered “girly.”
“Kasi ako, as a boyfriend, in general, nae-enjoy ko yung mga ginagawa ng mga babae,” he said.
When asked to elaborate, John Lloyd, called Lloydie by his fans, readily admitted to a love for shopping. “Take me there. I wanna go there. Patagalan tayo.” He even joked about how much he enjoyed carrying shopping bags and named a few other activities he’s grown to like. “I enjoy going to yung mga nail salon. Lately, parang nahihilig din ako sa spa, na dati hindi naman. Kahit grocery shopping, let’s go. (Lately, I’ve been enjoying going to the spa, even though that wasn’t something I liked doing before. Even with grocery shopping, [I’m like] ‘let’s go.’)”
