J.K. Rowling had her dark days, too

Apr 9, 2008 by FN's Shar Bareng

jkrowling.jpgBefore she became richer than the queen, Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling was penniless, divorced, and raising her child alone in Scotland. Little did we know that she also considered suicide during those desperate times.

She had spoken about her depression before, and even discussed in an interview with BBC that the idea of dementors were based on her own battle with the disease, but this was her first time to talk about contemplating suicide.

Thankfully, though, she had her then baby daughter Jessica to anchor her, and her wizard hero still had to be born. Seriously, after the Harry Potter series has come and gone, can you imagine a world without it? We couldn't, and just like the rest of you, we're very grateful to have Jo around.
