Can you imagine saying "yes" to everything? If you can't, Jim Carrey will give you a pretty good idea in his new flick, Yes Man.
Jim Carrey plays Carl Allen, a loan officer who signs up for a self-help program based on one simple covenant: say yes to everything and anything. He literally begins to accept every offer that comes his way, from bungee jumping to earning a nursing degree. Of course, there's a tipping point in embracing every opportunity, even if outcomes are generally good.
It's more interesting to note, however, that Yes Man is actually based on the true story of Scottish humorist Danny Wallace, who wrote about the experience in a book with the same title in 2005. Through Carl Allen, we see how six months of "saying 'Yes' where one would have said 'No'" made Danny's life interesting and positive.
We also wonder how the producers got Jim Carrey to say yes to a salary based on the movie's success. We'll find out when Yes Man finally hits local theaters in 2009.
