Fil-Mexican singer Jessica Sanchez, who risked elimination on American Idol on April 13 but was saved by the show's judges, survived another round of eliminations on April 20, ABS-CBNNews.com reports.
On performance night, Jessica sang Alicia Keys' "Fallin'" and Otis Redding's "Try a Little Tenderness."
The judges, who were all praises when they saved Jessica on the 13th, gave her both good and lukewarm comments for her performances.
"I hope America shows up and votes for you this week," said Randy Jackson after Jessica sang "Fallin'."
Meanwhile, Jennifer said of her rendition of Otis Redding's song, "We got a little bit of your alter ego, BB Chez. She came out a little bit here. Just the voice isn’t going to do it."
"Where you should go is being connected with the lyric," Randy added.
But despite their qualms about Jessica's second song, her performances were enough to get America's vote: Jessica was safe.
Elise Testone, Hollie Cavanagh, and Colton Dixon made up this week's bottom three. After Elise was sent to the safety zone, TV host Ryan Seacrest announced that Colton got the lowest number of votes and was therefore eliminated. Colton, who was the only first-timer in the bottom three, delivered renditions of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" and Earth Wind and Fire's "September" on April 19.
