What do Gossip Girl, Sex and the City, That ‘70s Show, and Friends have in common, aside from the fact that they’re all addictive? It's how these shows have strong sexual content, which a recent study has found responsible for risky teenage sex.
Behavioral scientist Anita Chandra's study in this month's issue of Pediatrics says the direct cause may be how Gossip Girl and other sexy TV series neglect to illustrate the consequences of unprotected sex. What teenagers may see instead are the positive and attractive aspects of sexual behavior.
And while other factors such as family background and school performance were also considered, risqué shows still held most of the blame.
Do you think shows like these should be toned down for the sake of the younger audiences? If you have a daughter or younger sister who watches while you’re watching Gossip Girl or any show considered risqué TV with you, would you be more careful now about exposing these shows to them? Let us know what you think.

i think it all lies in the way parents or relatives guide and censor which shows their kids watch, being busy is not an excuse for me so as not to take part in guiding what their kids watch at home.
