As American punk-rock band Fall Out Boy rocked Manila last week, fans also took notice of a young band who opened FOB's "Folie a Deux" tour.

Formally introduced during FOB's return to Manila, pop-rock band Hey Monday is composed of vocalist Cassadee Pope, bassist Jersey Moriarty, guitarists Mike Gentile and Alex Lipshaw, and drummer Elliot James. Cassadee formed the band when she was barely out of high school, after record label scouts discovered her at a regional music conference.
Yet the big break came after Fall Out Boy bassist and lyricist Wentz heard them sing. Wentz quickly moved to release the band's first album, "Hold On Tight," under Decaydance Records and Columbia Records.
"We have a variety of styles, but we wanted a fast, upbeat, and happy kind of record that makes you tap your feet and puts you in a good mood," said Cassadee of their first album. Their first single, "Homecoming," has a video out now.
