Claudine Barretto is not with GMA-7 anymore. This was confirmed by CEO and Chairman Atty. Felipe Gozon during an exclusive interview with PEP.ph.
“Wala na sa amin si Claudine. Expired na ang contract niya (Claudine isn't with us anymore. Her contract has expired),” Atty. Gozon had remarked.
Claudine had become a GMA-7 actress in 2009, when she signed a two-year guaranteed contract with the network. She was paid her full contract price even if she did not have any shows, and her fee per taping day had likewise increased by at least P100,000.
When PEP.ph asked if the network's decision was affected by the widely-publicized airport brawl that ensued on May between Claudine, her husband Raymart Santiago, and host Ramon Tulfo, Atty. Gozon said that the incident had nothing to do with it.“Iyon ang desisyon ng inampalan (That was the decision of the jury.).”
Though Claudine had recently finished taping an episode for the TV5 show Untold Stories, it seems that there are no plans to make her a permanent member of the network. “Claudine just taped one episode of Untold Stories. Beyond that, we have no long-term plans,” TV5’s head of creative and entertainment production Perci Intalan told PEP.ph through a text message.
Prior to her move to GMA-7, Claudine was one of the prized actresses of rival network ABS-CBN, where she stayed in the limelight for 17 years.
