When Gerald Anderson joined Sarah Geronimo onstage to sing the song “Won’t Last a Day Without You” during the Cebuana Lhuillier concert at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on August 28, fans of the pair speculated that something was brewing between the two despite their failed courtship. According to an article by PEP.ph, the Pop Princess even asked Gerald if he was “single,” to which Gerald replied, “Siyempre, single ako… single pa rin ako (Of course I’m single… I’m still single.).”
However, Gerald dispelled the rumors, and simply asked for people to respect his and Sarah’s privacy. “Alam ninyo, maraming lumabas, di ba? Kung anuman ang narinig ninyo, nabasa ninyo, napanood ninyo sa TV—nasa inyo kung anong iisipin ninyo, kung anong totoo dun at hindi totoo,” he said. “Sa ngayon, lagyan na lang natin ng respeto, ng privacy yung pamilya niya, si Sarah, at sana ako din. Kasi ang pinag-uusapan natin is something very personal at sa amin na lang yun. Basta at the end of the day, friends kami. It’s something that, yes, we’ve decided on. Basta, hanggang dun na lang—respeto at privacy na lang (You know, there are a lot of issues coming out. Whatever it is that you heard about, read about, or saw on TV—it’s up to you to interpret them, to decide what's true and what isn't. Right now, let’s just respect the privacy of Sarah’s family, of Sarah, and hopefully my privacy as well. What we’re talking about is something very personal and it’s just between the two of us. At the end of the day, we’re friends. It’s something that, yes, we’ve decided on. I’ll leave it there—I’m just asking for respect and privacy.).”
Gerald also said that he’s glad he and Sarah remained friends despite what happened between them, and that she will always be special to him. “I’m happy kung anuman ang mayroon kami at kung ano 'yun at naging ano man (I’m happy with what with we have)… I want it to stay that way—very much, as much as possible,” he said. "Just leave it at that. Please lang, wag na nating palakihin (Please, let's not make this issue bigger)… She will always be special to me.”
