FN showbiz roundup: Reason Victor Basa is suddenly "covered up," Douglas Quijano dies, and more
Jun 17, 2009 by Dinno Erece, entertainment correspondent
Death of an institution. The sudden death of revered showbiz manager Douglas Quijano in his vacation place in Lucban, Quezon last Saturday has left so many in shock up to now.
Friends and family still can’t reconcile that “Tito Dougs” is no longer with us. He was the manager of some of the biggest stars in showbiz—including Richard Gomez and Lucy Torres-Gomez; Richard Gutierrez; Joey Marquez and all his sons; brothers Jomari, Anjo and Ryan Yllana; brothers Antonio and Jay Aquitania; Gelli de Belen and John Estrada, among others. Tito Dougs died of a heart attack from complications from his diabetes. He would have been 65 on July 24.
So revered is the founding member of Professional Artists Managers Inc. (PAMI) that his Heritage Memorial wake has a different theme each night starting last Monday, which was ABS-CBN night. Tuesday was Vilma Santos night, while tonight will be GMA's, and tomorrow night will be PAMI's. He will be missed terribly.
