Cookies celebrate, the new American Idol is none other than our bet, David Cook!

We'll let the numbers talk: Out of 96 million votes, David Cook won 56%, a 12 million difference from David Archuleta's vote count. And this is from none other than a contestant who was overlooked early in the competition, was told by Simon Cowell that he didn't have charisma at all, and yet, sold the most Idol singles in iTunes.
Still, we also have to hand it to little Archie for his amazing performances, and of course, for being very humble and adorable all throughout the season.
Did you miss any of David Cook's performances in Idol? Now is the perfect time to recall the highlights of his journey through the whole competition!
"Hello" by Lionel Richie (Top 16 night)
This was the first video that set David Cook apart from the top 12: definitely an original, fresh take of Lionel Richie's hit.
"Eleanor Rigby" by the Beatles (Lennon/McCartney night)
Despite the controversies about the arrangement of the Beatles classic, Cook truly shone with this song and was praised for picking songs that fit his vocal style.
"Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson (Year they were born)
Hailed as one of the top 15 AI performances ever in Entertainment Weekly, "Billie Jean" also won the highest praises from Simon, who called Cook a different league to anything this season.
"Always Be My Baby" by Mariah Carey (Mariah Carey night)
By chanelling his inner Mariah, David won even more hearts with an original, emotional arrangement of Ms. Carey's 1996 hit.
"The Music of the Night" by Andrew Lloyd Webber (Andrew Lloyd Webber night)
David's theater background helped him project the Phantom's solo with ease during Andrew Lloyd Webber week, toppling over Syesha Mercado's sensational "One Rock 'n Roll Too Many" and Carly Smithson's "Superstar," and proving his musical flexibility.
"I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith (Top 3)
David Cook received the winning nod from Simon Cowell after performing this haunting version during the top three performance night.
"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" by U2 (Finale)
The first time that Idol lets a contestant sing a U2 single, David Cook scores a homerun with his beautiful, phenomenal version of the song.
Thoughts on the finale show:
- Ryan Seacrest dancing? I never thought I'd see the day, but wow, that was a laugh trip.
- How wonderful were the former contestants' performances today? I couldn't help but jump up and down while Carly Smithson and Michael Johns were rocking the house. Syesha Mercado was stunning in the "Without You" duet with Seal, and I think I died a little when Jason Castro reprised his "Hallelujah." Jordin Sparks, bless her, was wonderful despite her illness (and yes, I favored Blake Lewis last year) but nobody could really top the magic that was Carrie Underwood.
- Speaking of former contestants, I thought Renaldo Lapuz's big moment on stage was one for the books. All together now: "I am your brother, your best friend forever!"
- Jack Black, Ben Stiller, and Robert Downey, Jr. all in the house? This season finale is truly made of win, and I've yet to watch Iron Man!
- Let's join David Cook in applauding his brother, Andrew, without whom he wouldn't have gone this far. Now let's cross our fingers that he visits the Philippines in the near future!
So, there we have this year's American Idol! It's been a long journey this season, FN girls, and we've yet to wait until January for the next season. Fortunately, we have Pinoy Idol just around the corner, so watch this space for updates on our very own Idols!
