I like this. We are blessed here with so much talent! Wow I love ALL our beautiful Pinay singers old and new but lately I can't stop listening to Queen of Jazzipino Charmaine Clamor who I saw at the JazzFestival twice. So great. She just sang for Noynoy by request! Charmaine Clamor was our only Filipina on the album with David Byrne about Imelda. The world is hearing us ladies!

Thanks for this article FN! :) I'm just wondering where did you get the information about Regine selling 7M copies of album. I know she's Philippine's best selling artist of all time but I thought its just somewhere near 4M?

Other highlights in Regine's vocal journey and contributions in the music scene. Too bad that the new generation may have not known this facts since she's concentrating on acting in late 2000...

    - She became Asia Pacific Singing Champion (1989) beating other professional recording and broadway artists in the East including Australia and New Zealand. Her pitch perfect voice prompted the foreign crowd to shout "MANILA, MANILA" during the announcement of winner. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgeD_TWowR0 ) She was then hailed as Asia's Songbir.

-Regine set the standard in "birit" style of singing with her unmatched chest voice and vocal acrobatics. Her influence is STILL very evident up to now.

    - Velasquez was the first Filipino to stage a SOLO concert at the Main Hall of Carnegie Hall, NY.

-R2K was hailed as the best concert act in Asia in 25 years by a Malaysian magazine.

    - Received two MTV Asia Favorite Artist (Philippines) trophies for 2002-2003.

    - Dubbed as Diva of All Divas by MTV Asia through Coco Lee.

    - Dubbed as FILIPINO SUPERSTAR by CNN (during a 30-min interview of TALK ASIA with Ms Regine)

    - Dubbed as Asia's Queen of Pop after the success of her albums in the Philippines and in other major markets in Asia (under Polycosmic/Polygram label).

    - Female Entertainer of the year awardee for 10 consecutive years (1991-2000 then 2003-2005, 2007)

    - Best Concert Act Awardee for five consecutive years (2000-2004 then 2007)

I think what makes her special is the fact that with her immense talent she went up SLOWLY but SURELY...And you won't feel shortchanged after her concerts. Expect her to deliver even if she's sick or paos. Making her the MOST CONSISTENT and MOST IDOLIZED DIVA or music icon for 25 years now. ^_^

CAMILLE VELASCO....have you heard of her, she was in the same season as Trias far more better than Trias, vocally, and more appreciative of her Pinoy heritage rather than Trias, if you still remember what she had said, good thing that you didnt mention that Nicole WHATEVER IT IS of Pussycat Dolls, same thing as Trias also.

Some time ago, I really needed to buy a car for my corporation but I did not have enough cash and couldn't order anything. Thank God my mate adviced to try to take the home loans at reliable creditors. Hence, I did so and was happy with my credit loan.

thanks to certain crescendo.....all that you have mentioned about Ms. regine are all true...and will always be the testament for the greatness of this petite but very powerful DIVA our country ever had...

Yes, she may not be able to penetrate the international scene (the MAINSTREAM Hollywood) but she had her shares of international awards/citations/and success, and everything i think is in written in many papers (with authority)

She's the most consistent female performer/concert artist/vocalist ever

that every newcomer aspires and dreams of becoming like her, to be with her, to sing with her, even to copy her (thats the sad truth)

Actually di na dapat pinag uusapan to eh....although we are all entitled to our own opinion as they say...BUT if we only open our eyes, our ear, our true self...and kung aaminin lang ng iba diyan...kung magiging totoo lang tayo NO ONE STILL NO ONE....have achieved even half of what Ms REGINE have done, have ever accomplished through these years

basta yun na yun,,,STILL REIGNING SUPREME, the ONE and the ONLY SONGBIRD...Ms REGINE VELASQUEZ....

    HAIL to the Queen

i may be exaggerating but i know im telling only the truth
