American punk rock band Fall Out Boy returned to Manila for their second major concert in the Philippines last Friday, in time for Valentine weekend. They came to promote their fifth album, "Folie à Deux," which landed on the eighth spot of Billboard 200 on its debut week in the United States."It's our most focused and the most direct [album] in the sense that it has a theme that carries throughout most of the album," says vocalist Patrick Stump of "Folie à Deux."
Asked if they are glad to be back and if they missed their Filipino audience, Patrick replies, "Oh, absolutely. It was awesome the last time we played here. It was a really great show. That really [has] a huge impact on a band, when you play to an audience that great."
Incidentally, Patrick's girlfriend is a Filipina. He brought her with him to this Manila gig. "That was sort of my Valentine's thing. Just bringing her out here," he shares.
Fall Out Boy's act in Manila was preceded by new band Hey Monday, who was discovered by FOB's bass guitarist and lyricist Pete Wentz. This group of five young musicians fronted by 19-year-old Cassadee Pope is promoting their first album, "Hold On Tight," under Wentz's Decaydance Records.
