Eugene Domingo Sets Her Sights on Box-Office Queen Title

The actress expresses her intent to nab this achievement at a recent press conference for her upcoming movie, Kimmy Dora and The Temple of Kyeme.

article_eugene-domingo.jpgEugene Domingo's star continues to rise. The actress has already received acclaim for her acting chops, what with winning Best Actress awards left and right, as well as being declared the People's Choice for Best Actress at the last Asian Film Awards. Next on her agenda? To be crowned as the country's Box-Office Queen, PEP.ph reports.

"Opo, yun po ang pangarap ko," Eugene shared at the press conference for her latest film, Kimmy Dora and The Temple of Kyeme. This is, of course, the much-anticipated sequel to 2009's Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kyeme. "Ano lang... pinapalad lang na halos lahat ng pelikulang salihan ko ay kumikita. Pero hindi pa talaga to-the-max. (Yes, this is my dream. It's just that almost all of my films have done well in the box office. But none of them have really gone to the max.)"

Eugene admits that she found filming in South Korea, where much of the film was set, and playing two different characters exhausting. In the end, however, it was the crew and those around her who really allowed her to strive to complete the project.

She said, "Yung energy na yun, because they believe na kailangan talagang magkaroon ng sequel, and the audience are really waiting for something new to watch in the cinema from Kimmy Dora. Yun ang nagbibigay sa amin ng energy. (That energy that stemmed from the belief that we really needed a sequel, that the audience are really waiting for something new to watch in the cinema from Kimmy Dora. That's what gave us energy.)"

At the press conference, Eugene also addressed her kissing scenes with the film's leading men, Dingdong Dantes and Zanjoe Marudo. But despite a few good-natured jokes from the actress, she firmly dispelled all issues of sexual desire or lust for either of them, saying, "Ang tingin ko [sa] kanila, talagang barkada. Kung ka-batch ko man sila sa eskuwelahan, ganun, e. (I really see them as my good friends. Or like batch mates in school.)"

"Lahat kami gusto namin na hanggang future projects namin, maganda pa yung magiging roles namin—if ever we work again (All of us want good roles for our future projetcs—if ever we work again)," she adds.

Kimmy Dora and The Temple of Kyeme will be out in theaters on June 13.
