We’ve decided to award FemaleNetwork readers who love to shop wisely and without maxing out their credit cards. After all, shopping is more fun when you know you wouldn’t be worrying about huge bills later!
Self-confessed shopaholic Jo-Ann Tolentino, 26, says that while shopping makes her feel good, she makes sure to spend only within her means. "I'm not like other people who sacrifice money for food, rent, utilities, or risk being unable to pay rising credit card balances, just to buy expensive brands."
Wise shopper Mildred Fermin admits to struggling with the urge to use her credit card just like our favorite shopaholic Becky, but she compensates by taking advantage of end-of-season sales and scouting for places that offer items for less. Her tip? "Buy in bulk for bigger savings!"
Smart shoppers also make sure the price is just right for the product’s quality. That’s why we decided to award 24-year-old Cathrina Myla Santos Lim, a shopaholic who combs the entire mall for items similar to something she likes for less. "I love the learning process that comes with comparing items and shopping for what is really 'me' and not just pretty in itself." She really checks her finds by comparing the items' material, functionality, and style!
