Are Shaina Magdayao and Piolo Pascual Dating?

Piolo Pascual and Shaina Magdayao were said to have been acting extra sweet toward each other during the recent Singapore trip of the cast of Sunday variety show ASAP 2012. According to a report on the October 21 episode of The Buzz, the two were spotted holding hands during their trip.

Shaina had also posted photos of her and Piolo on her Instagram account, even describing one solo picture of the actor as a “handsome date.” Another photo, showing Shaina and Piolo enjoying a seafood meal, had the hashtag “Yes pag si Piolo dinner lang date na agad (Yes, an ordinary dinner becomes a date when you’re with Piolo)” attached to it.

However, singer Billy Crawford, who was one of Shaina and Piolo’s constant companions during the trip, said that the two never held hands, adding Piolo was merely being a gentleman. “Wala naman akong nakitang naka-holding hands ‘yung dalawa,” Crawford was quoted as saying in a report on ABS-CBNNews.com. “So kung sino man ang nagiimbento ng mga kaganapan doon, ako katabi ko sila mismo, walang holding hands (I didn’t see the two holding hands. So, to whoever invented that rumor, I was there right beside them, and no one was holding hands.).”

“Si PJ [Piolo’s nickname], gentleman lang naman talaga yan kahit ano ang mangyari,” Billy added. “He’s also taking care of Shaina, inaalalayan din. Kami actually magkakasama most of the time (PJ is always a gentleman, whatever happens. He’s also taking care of Shaina by assisting her. We were actually in the same group most of the time.).”

Shaina herself had confirmed that there was nothing going on between her and the in-demand actor. “Papa P has always been a gentleman naman to me and everyone. Kahit sino pa ang tanungin ninyo. Isang mabait na tao (Ask anyone. He’s a really good guy.). We’re friends,” she said in a statement to entertainment blog DarlaSauler.com.

Though Billy said that he’s not aware of anything romantic brewing between Piolo and Shaina, he said he would support Piolo if his friend decides to court the young actress. “I wouldn’t know anything that far. Wala pa naman sinasabi si PJ sa akin tungkol diyan, same with Shaina (PJ hasn’t told me anything about that yet, same with Shaina )… I’m really not fully aware,” Billy admitted. “But siguro when the time comes, I think bagay silang dalawa. ‘Yun lang ang masasabi ko bilang kaibigan nila (But maybe when the time comes, I think they’ll look good together. That’s all I can say as their friend.). They’re both single, why not? If they want to date, if they want to go out, if they want to share things, then go ahead.”
