Ara Mina Says Cristine Reyes Should Make the First Move Toward Reconciliation

Ara Mina still finds it difficult to talk about the fight she had with her estranged sister, Cristine Reyes. Cristine had allegedly harassed Ara earlier this year, prompting the latter to file libel and grave coercion charges against her younger sibling in April. Though Cristine had apologized on national TV, Ara still thinks her sister’s efforts to reconcile are insincere.

“To be honest, hindi ko na siya kilala ngayon. Kung anong Aa [Cristine’s nickname] ang pagkatao niya ngayon,” Ara was quoted as saying in an article on PEP.ph. “Even nung nag-sorry siya sa The Buzz 'nun, wala siyang text o follow-up. Sa The Buzz lang siya nag-sorry. Walang effort (To be honest, I don’t know who she is anymore; what Aa’s personality is now. Even when she said sorry on The Buzz back then, she didn’t text or follow-up. She only said sorry on The Buzz. There was no effort.).”

“Dati kasi kapag may problema kami, nahahagilap niya ako kapag may problema siya," she continued. "Kaya sinasabi ko na malalaman ko kung sincere talaga ang kapatid ko (Before, whenever we have problems, she would really make an effort to look for me. That’s why I’m saying that I know if my sister is really sincere.).”

Despite the drama her family is experiencing at present, Ara is still optimistic that and Cristine will reconcile one day. However, she is also firm in her decision to wait for her sister to make the first move. “Hindi naman ako ang magri-reach out. Pero kung magkakaayos kami na 'ganun pa rin ang ugali niya, mabuting huwag na lang (I’m not going to be the one to reach out. But if we reconcile and her attitude is still the same, then it’s better not to.).”

Ara also said that she admires Cristine’s boyfriend, actor Rayver Cruz, for putting up with her sister. “Bilib ako kay Rayver. Bilib ako sa pagmamahal niya kay Cristine,” she said. “Saludo ako sa kanya. Siya sumasalo lahat (I admire Rayver. I admire his love for Cristine. I salute him. He’s the one who deals with everything.).”
