Twists in the tale. In our first two columns for FemaleNetwork, we wrote about what could be a clash between GMA Films’ Sundo starring Robin Padilla and Star Cinema’s Land Down Under starring Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin—then both slated for November release. Sundo decided to move its play date to January so Land Down Under could go solo. Apparently, the story doesn’t end there.
Twist number one: the other GMA Films movie co-produced with Regal Films, One True Love (which stars Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, and Iza Calzado), decided to take the play date of the Robin movie instead. We now anticipate a different kind of clash to ensue: GMA’s former queen, now an ABS-CBN princess, versus GMA’s reigning queen. This could only be interesting.
Twist number two: Land Down Under was moved to a January opening since Star Cinema is having a hard time securing working visas to Australia, where some parts of the movie would be shot. This was allegedly done so an encounter between Marian and Angel could occur on the big screen.
But that brings us back to the original box office clash—Robin’s movie versus Angel’s—this January. Gone are the days, then, of GMA’s Asian Treasures where Robin and Angel were a tandem, not competitors.
War of the Kapuso. It all started as a blind item involving a lone girl, a group of girls, a missing bag, gowns stepped on, and an elbow nudge in the face. Before they were even named as Starstruck’s Jewel Mische versus Bubbles Paraiso and her friend Chynna Ortaleza, among others, here comes another incident involving the boys this time.
Reportedly, Richard Gutierrez and Aljur Abrenica had their own tussle at Fiamma on the night of the new GMA studios inauguration.
Richard was quick to issue his official statement refuting the incident. Chynna extricated herself from the mess, while Bubbles held an early morning press conference to deny that any “nudging” happened, lest she gets tagged “Siko Queen.” However, Jewel issued her own statement confirming the news, nudge included.
Suddenly, more names are being dragged into the mess. A surprise name cropped up: Pauleen Luna was reportedly a witness in the inauguration event and was being tagged as the source of the first blind item.
Pauleen has already denied this, but this writer is very interested in the others who were supposed to be there. Will they issue their own statements, too?
Profiled. Prime Events Force, the producer of the TV5 show Lipgloss which is now in its second season, keeps discovering new talent. The newest member of its cast is Neil Coleta, 18, a badminton player for Adamson University and part-time model (see gallery below). Neil plays Caloy, the driver’s son. For those in the dark, ‘the driver’s son’ is a running storyline involving “new money-ed” Juvilee, played by another newcomer Charina Suzara.
The Caviteño boy has done his share of commercials and he’s now trying acting. A bonus to female audiences of the Saturday teen show: like all male stars in the show, Neil has shot his first trunks scene—on his first taping day at that. This we’ve got to see.
Blindly. More and more names are being dragged into what could be the battle of superstars versus underdogs: we unearthed another name who should be questioned about his participation in the second bar incident mentioned above. Someone should ask this Am-boy about his participation in the incident involving “the king” and “the hunk.” Being so un-showbiz yet, he could talk, you know; all one has to do is field the right question.
