8 Tips for Surviving Showbiz from Agot Isidro

The stunning actress shares some nuggets of wisdom based from her 20-year stay in the glamorous world of show business. By Yvette Tan

Being a public personality may make some people jaded and world-weary, but definitely not Agot Isidro, who made sure to pick up a lot of lessons from the many years she has spent in the limelight. Spending over two decades in the entertainment business has taught her a lot about hard work, dealing with all kinds of people, and staying gorgeous no matter what’s going on in her life.

In the October 2012 issue of Good Housekeeping Philippines, she shares some lessons she learned from working in showbiz. Read on to find out what she has to say.

1. REINVENT YOURSELF.
“Do not get stuck in one place.”

2. DON’T GO OVERBOARD.
“As one gets older, less is more.”

3. DON'T BE A DIVA.
“I learned that in my line of work, which requires long hours, people would rather work with someone who has average talent with a good attitude than someone who is amazingly talented but with a bad attitude.”

4. DO YOUR BEST.
“Always strive for excellence. In everything.”

5. IT’S OKAY TO SPEND YOUR MONEY.
“Splurge once in a while. It is quite liberating.”

6. BE PATIENT.
“Most of the time, actors are paid to do long hours of waiting than acting. It is an exercise in patience.”

7. GO BY YOUR GUT FEEL.
“Always trust your intuition. There is a reason why men don’t have that.”

8. TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN.
“Moisturize and hydrate.”
