Imortal actress
Maricar Reyes is a woman of many talents. She started her career in showbiz as a commercial model and eventually signed on as a Star Magic talent, all the while working toward her medical degree. A registered doctor since 2008, Maricar has big hopes for her medical career, and she's just as eager to see where showbiz career takes her.
The climb to success wasn't easy for Maricar, especially after the
Hayden Kho sex tape scandal broke out a few years back and her name surfaced as one of the casualties. But Maricar weathered the storm with elegance and grace, choosing to keep silent and stand her ground in the face of the issue. She was rewarded with the appreciation of the public, and two years later, her star in showbiz continues to rise.
What has Maricar learned from her life experiences so far?
Read on for some quick advice from this admirable actress.
1. MAKE TIME FOR INTROSPECTION--ESPECIALLY IN THE MIDST OF HARDSHIPS.“When you’re facing adversity,” Maricar says, “whether you’re a man or a woman, I think three things are important. First, introspection. You look at what you did wrong, what you could have done to contribute to the situation. Second, you learn from it. And third, you do something about it. Even way before, I always thought that’s how you should deal with a problem. How can you move on if you don’t act on your realizations? How can you act on something if you haven’t even thought about it."
2. STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF.
Despite being in show business, Maricar has resolved to remain the person she was before she became a celebrity. "When I entered show business, I’ve always wanted to be myself. And I feel, to this day, I’m as true as I could be to that person. So if you’re asking me if I feel pressured to be something I’m not, the answer is no. I’m not under any pressure."
3. YOU'RE NEVER TOO OLD TO PURSUE NEW DREAMS.Maricar was a commercial model before she became an actress, and she admits that she entered the industry late compared to her more youthful counterparts. Instead of viewing this as a setback, though, Maricar thinks of it as an advantage. Being older, she knows herself better and therefore has a good grasp of who she is as a person. "Hopefully, I won’t change for the worse," she says.
4. BE PASSIONATE ABOUT THE THINGS YOU LOVE.Maricar pursues twin careers as a celebrity and a doctor, and she's not showing any signs of stopping with either! She shares her dreams about improving the health care situation in the country. "I don’t know if it’s population or funding, but I’m really trying to think of a way that will give health care to the masses. There are so many factors to consider.
Hindi ka naman pwedeng magbigay ng libre lang lagi (You can't just keep giving free things)
. Sometimes the jobs are not constant for the masses. I have to think of this more."
5. LIVE EVERY MOMENT TO THE FULLEST.Maricar is aware that her career in showbiz isn't going to last forever, so she makes sure she enjoys every moment of it. "It’s dangerous to assume you’ll stay in show business," she says. "
Swertihan din kasi if the public likes you. You never know how long you’re going to last. But I love it."
