Actress Angel Locsin's star continues to soar high this year. Just this May, her movie In the Name of Love, in which she starred opposite Aga Muhlach, was a box-office hit, and she's been slated to do a film with Imortal partner John Lloyd Cruz. Her love life is also blooming--she is exclusively dating Azkals player Phil Younghusband.

1. STAND UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN.
Angel is a vocal advocate of women's rights (she supports organization GABRIELA, which focuses on women's issues). This even shows in the roles she picks for her teleseryes and movies. "Kailangan mong ma-elevate ang kababaihan (We need to elevate the status of women)," she tells Cosmopolitan. "Hindi lang yung mga nakasanayan natin na sunud-sunuran. Pwede ako magtrabaho. Pwede ako mag-decide. Gusto ko yung mga characters ko yung mga hindi nagpapatalo. (It can't be just what we're used to with women following others blindly. I can work. I can decide. I want my characters to be fighters.)"
2. HAVE A BALANCED LIFESTYLE.
If you're a busy career woman, it's hard to keep up with both your work and your personal life, but Angel makes it a point to stay in touch with her loved ones and updated about what's going on in their lives. "Mas okay kasi may time para sa akin, sa family ko, sa friends," she says of her current work schedule.
3. BE SPONTANEOUS.
Whenever Angel has spare time, she just goes to an airline ticketing office and selects a destination. "Ayoko talaga mag-plano ng vacations, as much as possible." She doesn't want to treat them as just another part of her work schedule, after all. She loves telling her friends, "Tara, alis tayo. Basta. Mag-drive ka lang. (Let's go. It doesn't matter where. Just drive.)"
4. KEEP LEARNING.
Life is one big learning experience, and Angel is determined to make the most out of it. She wants to go backpacking in Europe and learn how to fly a plane, among other things. "And makabisado ko yung streets sa Pilipinas (And I want to memorize the streets in the Philippines)," she finishes, laughing.
5. BE OPEN TO CHANGE.
Angel is the first to admit there are things about herself that need changing, and she's now more open-minded about doing so. "I had a rule before that I wouldn't date anyone younger than me," she shares. "Pero nagbago na 'yon. (But that changed.)"
