Regine Velasquez Says She Gets Along Well with Ogie Alcasid's Ex-Wife

It’s not very common for a woman to be friends with her husband’s ex-wife, but Regine Velasquez believes that it’s important that she and husband Ogie Alcasid are on good terms with Ogie’s ex-wife, Michelle Van Eimeren.

“'Yung okay kami for the kids, kasi very important iyon, e,” Regine was quoted as saying in an interview with PEP.ph. “Kasi, kahit ano naman ang gawin mo, tatay ng mga anak ni Michelle ang asawa ko... And that means I’m a stepmom (It’s important that we’re okay with each other, for the kids' sake. Because whatever you do, my husband is still the father of Michelle’s children… And that means I’m a stepmom.).”

“Kung ano 'yung mga differences ninyo sa isa’t isa… parang mag-asawa din,” she continued. “Ganun din, you work on it just like every relationship—you work on it. Ang maganda lang kasi sa amin siguro, kasi parang hindi na masyadong nabigyan ng pansin (Whatever your differences are… it’s like being married… it’s like that, you work on it just like every relationship—you work on it. I think what’s nice with ours is that people don’t notice that so much.).”

Regine also added that she does not feel insecure about being a second wife. “'Yung first wife, siya [Michelle]; second wife, ako? Wala na kasing ganoon, e—we’re just family (So what if she’s the first wife and I’m the second wife? We don’t have that anymore—we’re just family!)!” she said, adding that her family is planning to spend Christmas with Michelle in Australia.

 “This December, we’re going there. We’re spending Christmas there, she revealed. “First time ni Baby Nate na magki-Christmas doon. We’re leaving on the 21st [December] kasi we wanted na longer... Kasi kawawa naman sila na four days-four days lang, so mga at least nine to ten days naman kami doon. Excited kami at excited din sila (It will be Baby Nate’s first time to spend Christmas there. We’re leaving on the 21st because we wanted to stay longer… because they’ll be sad if we only spend only four days there, so we’ll stay for nine to ten days, at least. We’re excited, and so are they.).”
